My question/worry about going to Riviera maya isn’t the murder, (beheadings), and rape so much as what happens if the Drug lords/gangs over through the Mexican Govt whole vacationing in Riviera Maya? My group of 4 Americans will be vacationing At the Catalonia Riviera Maya in May. I know most of the violence is along the border towns and I have no intention of going to bars, dark allys, or looking for any kind of drugs, but still a little worried about the over throughing of the government. Any thoughts??
Us young people, this is a family vacation planned in October with my husband myself and my parents, yes thats right my parents! I am also a well educated woman with a career and children. That is why I ask for opinions, I do have my safety as a concern not just for myself but my children also. I have traveled to Key West and thought it was wonderful, just looking for a little bit of change in vacationing areas. The rise in crime wasn’t national news until the trip was already booked!! But thanks for the compliment anyway- Young people!!!!

The mexican government is totally corrupt ive seen reports that drug cartels are bribing police military personnel and politicians not to interfere with them.
