What’s a good spring break destination for my family that’s warm and within driving distance from Chicago?
I really want to go somewhere warm this spring break! I’m thinking about some places we can go so I can bring them up to my parents. Are there any good warm spots that we can drive to? We don’t plan on taking the plane anywhere so it has to be within reasonable driving distance. Plus we’d only have about 4 days to make the trip. Any suggestions?

What is spring break season like while living in Daytona Beach?
I am moving from a quaint, little Ohio town to Daytona/Ormond Beach, Florida for work. I am really excited for this move, however, I am a tad bit leery about spring break. I hear that the area becomes overrun with students, parties, fights, and loud music that will still be thumping at 3 AM. Is this true? Does anyone live in the Daytona area (or any popular spring break area) that has any suggestions?
West Coast vacation ideas? 7-10 day trip?
Usually we travel on the South/South East Coast, or we cruise the Caribbean. We are staying closer to home this year …i.e. in the USA. We’ve cruised the W, E, and S Caribbean so we are going to give that a break, since flights are so expensive and we’ve visited many of the islands already.
I was thinking of traveling on the West Coast, as we have never been (except for a quick business trip).
Any one have ideas of cities to visit and things to do? Thinking of visiting N. California, Oregon, Washington, maybe crossing over to Canada. I’ve always been fascinated with Alcatrez and San Francisco. I don’t know much about Oregon & Washington.
Other thoughts were visiting Southern California for a few days (my son really wants to visit LA), and then take a 4-7 day Mexican Riviera cruise.
The trip will be for myself, and my 16 year old son in June 09.
Any feedback on vacation ideas or destination cities would be appreciated. I’m pretty open as far as budget. Would like to stay around $2-3K if possible not including airfare & car rental.
Thanks
Where can I avoid college students on Spring Break in the South?
I want to have an adventure by myself during my spring break in March, and I was thinking about taking a long trip from my home in New Jersey, down the southern coast, and see places like Wilmington NC, Savannah, and Charleston, then drive up into the mountains. Are these safe places to avoid crowds of college students? Are there any places I should avoid, like perhaps Myrtle Beach?
I was thinking about north too. I want to take a trip to Toronto. Also, I’m not planning to go to Florida.
What can I do for spring break in Pittsburgh Pa?
I am unable to go anywhere for spring break this year but I would like to do fun this for the week that I am off. I want to be able to relax and enjoy myself. I am not a drinker! I am looking for itinerary ideas(like a schedule for the week. I like to paint, make jewelery, read, bowling, skating, eating, cooking, movies. If anyone can help me come up with a fun itinerary that would be great!
