Re. staying in Riviera Maya?

Is there a “downtown” area in R. Maya? We don’t want to rent a car and don’t want to get stuck eating every meal at the hotel.
I want to know if there are lots of cafes, shops, restaurants in one area. I found out how far Cancun is and we’ll take the bus but for local eating purposes.

    The mayan riviera to go to 5th ave in playa del carmen you should be able to go to 5th ave in playa del carmen you should be able to pdc youll want to pdc youll likely find that it is closer than cancun and personally think nicer too.
