This year, my father and I are taking our annual trip to the Dominican Republic. Usually my sister also comes along but she won’t be able to make this year because of her new job. I’m grateful to being going again but it won’t be the same w/out my sister and I would like someone to acompany me, who is around my age, on the trip. Some would say “Why not make friends there ?” but it is very hard to meet people there because the resort is about 90% French people and they haven’t been that friendly to me in the past. My friend’s parent doesnt have enough money to pay for her to go & I would like to enjoy something like this w/ her. I would like my friend to come along also because then I would have someone to enjoy daily activities like swimming, snorkeling, and so on. My dad is old in age and can’t do all those things. So what are some things I can say or do to try to convince my dad why he should pay for my friend to go ?

When I meant old in age, he is about 60 something. He is still able to do certain things but he likes laying around & soaking up the sun. So I don’t want to bother him with all the physical activites I want to do. Oh, also my friend & I are 19 years old.

I am going on an 11 day cruise from San Fransico leaving late March. How will the seas compare to other places/times of the year? I have only gone on one cruise that was around the Hawaiian Islands and about 800 miles south through the open Pacific. It got quite rough, and I got sea sick. I would love to avoid that experience and plan on taking Bonine, but my cabin is in the front of the ship.

Any experience with wave height in that region at that time of year?

I’m leaving the US to finish my studies in France since I just got my French nationality. I’m also a Mexican citizen and lived here in the US for some years thanks to my dad’s E2 visa extension which has just expired. I really want to come back soon to visit my parents, friends etc. Is it possible in any way that I can cross the border on the VWP with my French passport? Note that my prior student, E2 and tourist visas were on my Mexican passport.
